School PD Requirements in California
What professional development requirements does a school in California need to meet?
Assembly Bill 2291, effective January 1, 2019, requires that local educational agencies (LEAs) make anti-bullying training available to certificated and all other school site employees who have regular interaction with students.
The Human Trafficking Prevention Education and Training Act, effective January 1, 2018, requires the continuation of human trafficking training for school district personnel.
California law (Education Code (EC) Section 215, AB 2246) mandates suicide awareness and prevention training for teachers who teach grades 7-12.
Title I, Part A funds reserved by an LEA shall be used to carry out activities and strategies consistent with the LEA’s Parent and Family Engagement Policy, including providing professional development for LEA and school personnel regarding parent and family engagement strategies.
